Knock, knock. Who’s there? Tradition.

She’s perfectly groomed and ready to entertain. The house is clean, dinner is ready, a smile is on, and silence, oh so conveniently learned.
“Trad marriage” has long been framed as the endpoint of womanhood: stability, safety, and purpose. It sounds reassuring, and in some rare cases, it does work. But in most others, relying on a man to make your life worth living is far from a fairy tale.
Imagine he got a little too drunk and a little too angry, or gambled his worries away. And you… dropped out of college 20 years ago to be where you are now, in pain. Your résumé? The last entry: a volunteer position at a local community centre when you were the age of your daughter. That sense of safety and stability leaves you wondering if you’ll have to move back in with your senior parents—because you have little to no choice.
In a modern world where double standards thrive and even a cup of coffee can feel like the price of a middle finger, let’s be honest—women have taken on multiple roles because, well, someone has to.
The project reframes domesticity, femininity, and obedience through subversion and subtle exaggeration. Familiar stereotypes are stretched just far enough to expose the underlying truth. The result is not parody for its own sake, but satire with precision.
Across the globe, autonomy remains unevenly distributed—across bodies, education, mobility, and futures. Some restrictions are explicit. Others are subtle, embedded in the language of “natural order.” The project suggests that inequality adapts, blending into the familiar, sometimes appearing closest to home.
There is something unsettling about how convincing the fantasy remains. The viewer is left to confront difficult questions: When does devotion become expectation? When does care become obligation? When does tradition become containment?
Eventually, the woman at the center of the frame stops performing.
She pauses, reflects, and says, simply:
“I’ve had enough.”
Perfection cracks.
What remains is not outrage, but clarity.
